Okay, okay- this is what happened... Ollie's hair was very uneven & he needed a trim. Since I cut Sophie's hair, I thought it would be easy to cut Ollie's as well. I was wrong- it is very hard to cut a boy's hair! I did a terrible job, and his "do" needed fixing badly. Michael was scheduled upstairs at the salon for a haircut, so he took Ollie along. The hairdresser explained how it was traditional to shave babies' heads and how his hair would grow in better if she did. Actually, I'd heard this before as many of my fellow China-adoptive moms had shaved their baby's heads... So that's how it happened, and I really think he looks adorable this way! :)
I agree that he looks ADORABLE! I love that he already had a haircut! He's a little man now - and look at his smile. He knows already how much you adore him!!!! Ollie is so lucky to have you as his family!!!!

Isn't the soft velvet baby hair stubble on a baby's newly shaved head the most magical thing?? Wait for 2 weeks and you won't be able to keep your hands from touching his little stubble head. So cute!! I voted for Vin.
He is a beautiful baby! I voted for Vin Deisel! But Andre Agassi was my second choice! They are both good looking men (Andre is very short though) I have heard that about hair before. Our former exchange student that is like our daughhter, Ana, we call her our Mexican daughter, said she was shaving her sons head at age 1 also for that reason! He is still a very handsome little baby!!!

I must admit--- this gave me a bit of a startle. Until I remembered that our oldest son and his mates, shaved (with a razor & shaving cream!)our youngest son's head when he was about 7. Our little man thought it was funny at first, but soon took to wearing a "70's Dude" halloween wig that he dug up in the basement. I still have it... maybe Ollie baby would like to borrow it? I will say that while I was traumatized at the time, the photos now make us all CRACK UP! Sooo, knowing how much his Mama loves a good photo...I say, "GO OLLIE---TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM!!!" SO cute. The FM shaved my son's head, and now it's ALL kinds of crazy hair. He's adorable, either way!

Aw what a cutie! I love how his smile lights up his entire face :) I actually had to shave my youngest son's head when he came home from Russia to even it out. It grows back fast!

He is just too cute. I cut both of my son's hair. The trick is to cut it dry. They have both suffered through several of my hair cuts. I wish they would have let me shave their heads. Congratulations to you and your family! Ollie looks very happy.
i think it's adorable... you should see what my husband did to our 13 year old nephew lastnight. you'd crack up. imagine a black person's curly hair, shaved into a mohawk. it's hysterical. i love the bald look.

We did that with my little brothers hair when he was little. Actually we did it a lot and he was so cute!!! It did make his hair a little thicker. When he looks back at photos he things it was cool.

I have heard that this is very common in both Latin and Chinese cultures. I think he looks adorable and it will grow in more evenly. I trim Kate's hair frequently so that it evens out.

I don't think that adorable was ever in question!! That is a given! I assumed you did it b/c that's what they do in their culture. The ladies at JP's orphanage shaved his head for the same reason---I didn't even know it until I received his health update w/ pics!!

My daughter had a really bad "mohawk" looking hair do when we met in China. I was tempted to shave it because of all the comments we got. She now has gorgeous hair...not that I'm capable of doing anything with it:) Ollie would be adorable even with a pink mohawk! All I see when I look at him is his HUGE smile.

I have heard that shaving heads will grow baby's hair in better. In fact, my husband is Chinese, there is one picture of him with a shaved head too at the same age. I won't do that to my daughter when she comes. I can't wait to put pink bows into something other than my dog's hair.

Shana - first of all congrats on getting Pink! I pray to get out of PGN soon myself! I have to say that Ollie resembles the very handsome Vin Diesel but i have to ask - why did you guys shave his head????
He is such a cutie! And, I voted like the majority, Vin Diesel. No true reason why but that he looks very similar to him, maybe bc they are both smiling.
What a funny story.... I sure did my fair share of messing up my son's hair when he was younger! :)
